ISLAMABAD: The Customs North Region shows a shortfall of Rs-441.99million in Customs Duty (CD) against the assigned target during the nine months (July to March) of Financial Year 2016-17. The Customs North Region was assigned Rs9330.78million CD while it collected Rs8888.79million under the same head during above said period. The North Region comprises Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad, MCC Peshawar, MCC Samberial (Sialkot) and MCC Gilgit-Baltistan.
The MCC Islamabad surpassed the collection target during nine months (July to March) of Financial Year 2016-17 with the additional amount of Rs120.56million. The MCC Islamabad collected Rs3960.34million against the assigned target of Rs3839.78million under the head of CD.
The MCC Peshawar collected Rs4935.03million CD whereas it was assigned the target of Rs5931.00million under the same head. The MCC Samberial collected Rs1006.31million against the assigned target of Rs1061.00million under the head of Customs Duty during 09 months (July to March) FY2016-17.
During above said period, the MCC Gilgit-Baltistan surpassed its assigned target with additional amount of Rs378.73million under the head of CD whereas the GB collected Rs999.73million under the same head against the assigned target of Rs621.00million.
Chief Collector North Sarwat Tahira Habib already held many meetings with the staff concerned during her randomly visits to all of the four collectorates of North Region and asked them for expediting their efforts to increase the revenue collection under the CD and other heads.
