MULTAN: Customs Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) branch has lodged FIR against five accused who were involved in smuggling of foreign-origin tyres and other goods seized by Anti-Smuggling Organization.
According to details, Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization team’s intercepted suspected truck bearing registration number TLQ-237/Lasbela and container displaying registration number PT-1436/Sindh in their action from Head Taunsa Bridge. The impounded vehicles were loaded with huge quantity of branded tyres and other goods. Customs staff recovered huge quantity of foreign origin tyres worth in millions during examination of the said container and truck.
Drivers of the vehicles presented import documents of loaded goods to Customs staff on their demand which proves bogus during verification process.
Multan Customs Investigation and Prosecution decided to lodge criminal case against arrested accuse Mansoor Khan son of Qabil Shah, Mansoor Khan son of Meen Khan, Muhammad Shehzad son of Rashid Khan, Muhammad Asif son of Quaid Baaz and Sualemeen Khan son of Dooran Shah. These arrested accused are resident of Peshawar and Khyber Agency.
Multan Customs lodged case under Section 2(s),16,18, 178,157 (2) & 156 (2) with Section 187 of the Customs Act 1969 with section 3(i) of Imports and Exports (Control) Act 1950 punishable under Clause 89 of Section 156(i) and SRO 566(I)/2005. Customs teams lodged FIR no: 17/18 against the alleged persons in charge of smuggling and took their remand for further interrogation.
