KARACHI: Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation-Enforcement has seized a consignment of circuit breakers being cleared through mis-declaration.
According to details, a raid was conducted by the Customs Intelligence-Enforcement officers in pursuance of information regarding concealment of actual transaction value and clearance of electric goods / Hyundai brand circuit breakers of Korean origin at grossly under-invoiced value against submission of self-made invoice.
The consignment imported by M/s IR Trading Co, Lahore (NTN-4296442) laying at BOML off Dock Terminal cleared vide GD No KAPW-HC-88867 dated November 8, 2016 through Customs Appraisement-West was intercepted and seized by the intelligence staff.
As per invoice submitted to customs at the time of filing GD, the intelligence staff found difference in declared amount that is $2,364 and actual values that come to $23,761. It is learnt that a difference of $20,761 was detected in value of the items. The customs assessed the subject goods at $2.5/kg and found duty/taxes evasion amounting to Rs 714,576.
The consignment being liable for confiscation has been seized under section 168 of the Customs Act, 1969 for violation of the relevant provision of law and seizure report is being submitted to adjudication authority for initiation of adjudication proceedings.
