FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized Indian origin polyester grey textile fabrics, which was being smuggled in the guise of Chinese origin goods by tampering the bill of lading and other import documents.
Sources informed Customs Today that Additional Collector Azmat Tahira received information about some smuggling attempts. She formed a customs team comprising Zahid Saleem Mirza (SIO), Mansoor Nasir (IO), driver Tajamul Haq, Muhammad Sajjad (havaldar) and sepoy Khalil Ahmad.
The suspect, who was identified as Noor Muhammad son of Haji Muhammad, provided a copy of GD No. LARP-HC-8428. That GD revealed that the importer M/s N.N International had got clearance of polyester textile fabrics from Prem Nagar Dry Port Lahore.
The Customs team seized the goods and vehicle and sent the report to the customs adjudication for further proceedings.
