Customs Intelligence confiscates smuggled electronic goods worth over Rs50m

KARACHI: Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation-Customs, Karachi and Model Customs Collectorate of Preventive have jointly started preparing seizure report of smuggled goods seized on June 19, estimated to be worth Rs 50 million.

Sources informed Customs Today that both FBR organizations on the special directives of FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa and Director General Intelligence and Investigation-Customs Luftullah Virk have collectively taken part in preparing seizure report in the case detected by the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation-Customs, Karachi on June 19.

Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation-Customs, on a tip-off, intercepted three Suzuki-Hi-roofs, laden with smuggled electronic goods including laptops, cell-phones, SIMs and auto-parts.

Sources told Customs Today that timely action of the directorate foiled the bid to smuggle electronic goods illegally imported from Bangkok and Dubai.

“More than a dozen consignments of smuggled electronic goods had been halted at airport which are estimated to be worth over 50 million and involve duty/taxes worth millions of rupees,” sources added.
