KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs Enforcement-South region, Karachi, has decided to beef up security at border posts to uproot the menace of petrol/diesel smuggling.
Reliable sources informed Customs Today that the Chief Collector of Enforcement-South has evolved an effective strategy in order to tighten the surveillance at border posts in South region.
The sources further said that the meeting of the FBR authorities concerned would likely to be held in the recent week in which the Chief Collector Muhammad Nazim Saleem would brief about the strategy being adopted by the customs to curb the smuggling of Iranian petrol/diesel.
They further revealed that the Director General (DG) Rangers Sindh, Major Gen Bilal Akbar would also meet with Chief Collector Muhammad Nazim Saleem to adopt a joint strategy against the smuggling.
It is pertinent to mention here that the DG Rangers Sindh, Major Gen Bilal Akbar in apex committee meeting had disclosed that the amount collected by the auction of smuggled Iranian petrol/diesel was being used in anti-terrorism activities.
The authorities concerned of Pakistan Customs following the statement given by the DG Rangers expedited the operation and decided to beef up the security at customs check-posts across the South region.
