KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement & Compliance (E&C) submitted first information report (FIR) against suspect namely Abdul Razaq son of Abdullah Jan and others, who were nominated in first information report for smuggling of jersey cloth printed and non-printed etc worth Rs128, 850,000.
On 3 October 2020, investigation officer submitted FIR and also produced above mentioned suspect and informed that information was received to the effect that considerable quality of smuggled non-duty paid foreign origin cloth has been dumped in a godown situated at Manda Wali Gali, opposite KMA Girls Degree College, Lyari, Karachi and would like to be removed from that premises shortly.
He further informed that pursuant to the said information a customs team headed by the assistant collector of customs raided the said godown and during the search recovered 20,000 kg jersey cloth printed and unprinted, 5,000 kilogram chiffon cloth of China origin, 2,500 kg lawn (ladies cloth) China and Indonesian origin. 10,000kg net cloth simple and embroidered China origin and 3,000 kg jeans and dant fabric worth Rs,128,850,000.
He stated that after the formalities, customs officials seized the above mentioned goods and first information report also has been registered against claimant owner, financier, abettors, associates and others.
After the hearing, the court approved physical remand of said suspect and directed the investigation officer to produce him on the next date of hearing along with a progress report.
According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under section 2(s) and 178 of customs act, 1969 punishable under clause (89) of section 156 (1) clause (8) e of 156 ibid read with section 3(1) of imports & export control act, 1969.
