KARACHI: The Customs Taxation & Anti-Smuggling Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi on Monday directed investigation officer to complete the investigation and submit final charge sheet against suspects Chinese nationals namely Zhong Zhongmin, the Country Manager and Li Chonhong, Deputy Country Manager of BGP (Pakistan) International, who were booked in a case of submitting forged documents for clearance of surveying equipment causing Rs 513 million loss to the government exchequer.
During the hearing, investigation officer once again sought time, however, court gave him last chance and directed him to submit final charge sheet on next date of hearing.
Earlier, investigation officer had produced above-mentioned suspects before the court and informed that on some solid evidences an FIR No. 33/2017 has been registered against a Chinese oil and gas surveying company M/s BGP (Pakistan) International, its clearing agent M/s IMT Co, customs officials and others on the allegation of preparing/submitting fake/bogus corporate guarantee for clearance of their surveying equipment worth Rs 677 million.
He further informed that Chinese firm, its clearing agent M/s IMT Co, customs officials and others have been named in the FIR registered by the FIA, revealed the statement.
Investigation officer stated that prosecution completed investigation from above-mentioned suspects, therefor, prosecution does not need further time, and therefore, court may send them to jail.
Earlier, court sent Chinese nationals namely Zhong Zhongmin and Li Chonhong to jail and directed jail authorities to produce them before the court on next date of hearing. Court also directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit charge sheet in this case within reasonable period. Case was registered for violation of section 156 sub section 14-A, 82 read with 32-A of Jinnah International Airport Karachi.
