KARACHI: The Customs Court directed investigation officer of Appraisement East to complete investigation and submit charge sheet against suspects namely Imran Haroon, owner of M/s Al-Aswed, Qaiser Abbas, clearing agent of M/s Ali Co, Muhammad Idress, clearing forwarding agent, Muhammad Ali and Muhammad Ahsan in a case of mis-declaration scam.
On September 16, 2019, investigation officer submits first information report (FIR) against them and informed that on an actionable information was received that above mentioned importer have imported a consignment declare to contain “shipper load, count & seal” (232 kilograms) CY/Cyused clothing weighing 19200 kilograms, manifested to have been shipped from Ningbo China.
He further submits that information further revealed that the importers in active connivance with their clearing agents and other accomplices have mis-declared the description, quantity, origin, classification of the imported goods by submitting false, fake and fabricated information to evaded legitimate of government revenue.
IO said that in order to confirm, examination of the pin-point consignment was examined and on physical examination found Velvet Prayer Mats of assorted color & design packed in bales, approximately 12200 kg instead of declared goods.
He argued that suspects have been found in their involvement of mis-declaration of goods in respect of description, PCT Heading, quantity and import of banned/ restricted items and evaded the duty and taxes in the tune of Rs4,707,157.
After the hearing court taken FIR into court record and directed investigation officer to arrest above mentioned suspects, complete investigation and submit charge sheet on next date of hearing.
