KARACHI: Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has rejected the bail application of Mohammed Shakil, owner of M/S Talha Trading Co, in a case of mis-declaration.
During the hearing, learned special prosecutor for the state opposed bail application on the grounds that the applicant was legal owner of the importing firm, M / S Talha Trading Co. “The accused in connivance with M/S AMI Pakistan Private Limited, Karachi imported consignments of fabrics from Dubai instead of China through mis-declaration,” the prosecutor added
The special prosecutor further argued that as this case fell within the provision of Section 32 of the Customs Act, 1969, the bail application should be rejected.
After the arguments, the special judge rejected the bail application and resent the accused to jail.
According to the prosecution, the accused was arrested on April 26, 2016 and case No 21/20, 16 R&D (east) under Section 156 ( 1 ) (9 ) (14)& (14-a) of the Customs act, 1969 was registered against him.
