KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi issued non-bailable warrants for Muhammad Ayub Jaan in a case of alcohol smuggling. According to the prosecution, the suspect and his accomplices were involved in smuggling of 14,000 bottles and cans of liquor.
During the hearing, the suspects, Asif Bilal and Muhammad Yaseen, were present in the court. Umer, the counsel for Muhammad Yaseen, Aqeel Ahmed, the counsel for accused Asif Bilal and senior public prosecutor appeared before the court. The court was informed that the investigation officer has not sent any report regarding non-bailable warrants issued against absconding accused. Therefore, the court repeated the same and adjourned the hearing for August 20, 2016 for execution of non-bailable warrants and on application under Section 265-K c.r.p.c filed by accused Muhammad Yaseen.
According to the investigation officer, it is clearly established without any speck of doubt that accused Asif Bilal in connivance with absconding accused Ayub Jaan, the Shipper M/s Sapphire Exim F2co Dubai and others have intentionally exported over 14,000 cans and bottles of Carls Berg brand bear, Johnnie Walked Black Label Whisky and other brands of contraband/restricted foreign origin liquor and violated that provisions of law which comes under the ambit of Section 2 ( S ) and 32 of the Customs Act, 1969, punishable under Section 1, 8 & 14, 2 section 156 ( 1 ) ibid.
