KARACHI: The Customs Court extended physical remand of suspect namely Rahimullah Khan son of Sazullah Khan and sent back him to Pakistan Coast Guard who was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid high speed diesel.
On 19 March 2020, investigation officer reproduced the above mentioned suspect before the court and informed that on an actionable information, a team of Marin Wing Pakistan Coast Guards intercepted a boat Safina Sanaullah © registration no B-21021 engine no TC-13645.
He further submitted that during the search, Pakistan Coast Guards team recovered 3100 liter Iranian High Speed Diesel which was smuggling from Iran to Pakistan, suspect was asked to produce lawful documents, however, he failed to produce any lawful documents, therefore, after the formalities, goods along with boat were seized and suspect also taken into custody.
Investigation officer further said that prosecution needs further investigation for arrest of other suspects who may involve in this crime, therefore, court may grant his physical remand.
After the hearing, court approved his request and approved suspect’s physical remand and directed investigation officer to produce him on next date of hearing along with progress report.
According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under section 2(s) 157 (2) of customs act, 1969 punishable under clause (89) of section 156 (i) ibid read with section 156 (2) of the customs act, 1969.
