KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has extended the physical remand of a suspect, Muhammad Ayub Jaan, for six days in a case pertaining to the smuggling of 14,000 bottles and cans of liquor.
During the hearing, Investigation Officer Akbar Ahmed submitted that the suspect was arrested and produced on August 26, 2016 before this court to get his physical remand. He added that the accused disclosed vital information with regard to the ownership of the impugned goods during interrogation.
The officer requested the court to send the suspect on physical remand for further six days. After the hearing, the court accepted his request and directed him to complete the investigation challan until the next date of hearing.
According to the investigation officer, it is clearly established without any speck of doubt that accused Asif Bilal in connivance with accused Ayub Jaan, the shipper, M/s Sapphire Exim F2co Dubai and others have intentionally, wilfully and knowingly exported over 14,000 cans and bottles of Carls Berg, Johnnie Walker Whisky and other brands and violated that provisions of law which comes under the ambit of Section 2 (S) and 32 of the Customs Act, 1969, punishable under Section 1, 8 & 14, 2 section 156 (1) ibid.
