LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti Smuggling approved 14 days judicial remand of the accused, who was arrested in a currency smuggling case.
According to details, a team of Customs Preventive arrested a suspect, Faisal Hussain, at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore after recovering a huge quantity of local and foreign currency from his luggage. The suspect was trying to smuggle currency of Rs 2 million. Customs Preventive found dollars, Euros, pounds and Pakistani currency from his luggage. The Customs Investigation team presented him before the Customs Court to get his physical remand, which was approved.
After completion of the remand, the customs team presented him again before the court and told the court that all investigation has done so the court can send him to jail.
Customs preventive arrested the accused while he was making attempt to smuggle this currency from Lahore to Europe. Customs Preventive team intercepted the accused at airport and recovered huge amount of currency of different countries.
Customs Investigation team produced him before Court of Custom Taxation and Anti Smuggling and asked for his judicial remand of 14 days. Customs team has registered a case against him under Pakistan Customs Act 1969.
