LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti Smuggling has approved 14 days judicial remand of two accused persons who were arrested during smuggling of mobile phones and some other items as well from Lahore.
Muhammad Din and Fayaz Ali were arrested by the Customs Intelligence from Lahore when they were coming through motorway. They were intercepted by the customs authorities at Band Road area. Customs intelligence authorities conducted an operation on intelligence information at band road Lahore and arrested both accused.
Customs intelligence recovered a smuggled and non custom paid mobile phones and accessories from possession of the accused. Customs intelligence also recovered accessories of mobile phones from their possession. Worth of the recovered items is more than Rs2 million in local market. The accused have made a huge loss to the national kitty in the wake of duty and taxes.
Customs investigation team presented them before the customs court for getting their physical remand to investigate more on the issue that was approved by the court. Customs judge Tahir Sabir approved their remand for two days. After completion of the remand customs team presented them again before the court for further action and the court sent them to jail on judicial remand.
Customs has registered a case against the accused and launched investigation as well after confiscating the vehicle and clothes that he was trying to smuggle. Customs authorities registered a case against him under Pakistan customs act 1969.
