KARACHI: The Customs Court approved charge sheet against suspects namely Altaf Ahmed son of Abdul Ghafoor and Muhammad Israr son of Muhammad Ibrahim, who were nominated in first information report (FIR) for smuggling of non-duy paid goods into Pakistan and losses the government exchequer to Rs64, 64, 065.
On 23 November 2020, investigation officer submitted charge sheet and informed the court that an information was received to the effect that huge quantity of assorted foreign origin merchandize goods Nutella G750 (Hazelnut Cocoa Spread), tooth brush, tooth paste, body massager, hair, spray, body spray and assorted brand Hair Oils etc were brought from Lahore by a railway goods wagons and stored in the godown of M/s Qadri Hajveri Cargo, City Railway Station (Godhi), Karachi for onward shifting within the city area.
He further informed the court that pursuant to the said information, a team of ASO staff recovered huge quantity to said goods from M/s Qadri Hajeri Cargo valuing of Rs5, 915, 467 and after the formalities, owner of the goods and other suspect were arrested and first information report (FIR) has been lodged by the customs authorities.
He stated that during the investigation, it is established that the above mentioned suspects thus committed an offence in collusion with the others under section 2 (s), 156 (2) and 178 of the customs act, 1969, punishable under section 156 (I) and (89) ibid.
