KARACHI: The customs court approved charge sheet against suspect namely Shah Khalid son of Abdul Qadir and issued notices to investigation officer and special prosecutor for customs department. The suspect was booked in a case of attempting to smuggle foreign origin cloth worth Rs. 13,111,371.
On 16 December 2019, investigation officer appeared before the court and submitted interim charge sheet against the above mentioned suspect and informed the court that on actionable information, customs officials intercepted one Nissan truck/ trailer bearing registration no: SPN-190.
He further submitted that during the search, customs officials recovered 507 kg ladies cloth, stamp via Karachi in Transit to Afghanistan, containing Habib Collection made in China, 814 kg ladies cloth bearing stamp via Karachi in Transit to Afghanistan containing Naqeeb Collection made in China, 5413 kg plain ladies cloth and 10,596 kg curtain cloth of assorted size and designs bearing stamp via Karachi in Transit to Afghanistan total valuing of Rs13,111,371.
He argued that the above mentioned suspect was asked to produce lawful documents, however, he failed to produce any lawful documents, therefore, customs officials seized all goods along with vehicle and he also was taken into custody.
After the hearing, court approved interim charge sheet, at this movement, counsel for the suspect also filed after arrest bail in which court issued notices to investigation officer and special prosecutor for customs department and called police papers for next date of hearing.
