KARACHI: The Customs Court granted bail to suspect namely Muhammad Israr son of Muhammad Yousaf against the surety of Rs 100,000 who was allegedly involved in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid contraband gold.
On May 2, 2019, counsel for the suspect filed after arrest bail and argued that his client is innocent and falsely implicated in this case, he is ready to appear on each and every date of hearing, therefore, court may grant his bail till final judgment in this case.
After the hearing, court granted his bail against the surety of Rs 100,000 and directed applicant/suspect to appear on next date of hearing.
According to the prosecution, on an actionable information, he was intercepted an outgoing passenger holding Pakistani Passport, who was leaving for Bangkok by Thai Airline’s Fight No TG-508 and during the search of his baggage, customs team found huge quantity of non-duty paid goods. He further informed that during the search, he was asked to produce lawful documents, however, he failed to submit any lawful documents, therefore, after the formalities, goods were seized and he was taken into custody.
