KARACHI: The Customs Court accepted interim charge sheet against and issued non bailable warrants against absconding suspects namely Sol Muhammad, Bashir and Farooq, who were booked in a case of attempting to smuggle non-duty paid 20602 liters High Speed Diesel (HSD).
On Feb 18, 2019, investigation officer submitted interim charge sheet and informed the court that on an actionable information, specially designed wooden launch namely Al-Sher Jan painted BFD-13301 HSD registered in Gwadar was going to transport smuggled/non-duty paid diesel at Karachi Coastal Area.
He submitted that pursuant of that information, customs officials intercepted wooden launch and recovered 20602 liters HSD oil and suspects namely Tasleem Shah, Naseem-Ul-Haq, Tallahzar, Ikram Khan, Tahir Ahmed, Muhammad Asif and Naseebzar were asked to produce lawful documents, however, they failed to produce any lawful documents, therefor, all suspects were taken into custody and goods along with wooden launch also were seized.
He further informed the court that during the investigation, it is established that suspects were involved in smuggling of HSD oil. After the hearing, court accepted interim charge sheet and issued non-bail-able warrants against absconding suspects.
According to the prosecution, case was registered for violation of under Section 2 (s) 156 (2) and 178 of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Clauses 89 and 85 of Section 156 (1) read with section 3 of Import & Export Control Act, 1950 and S. No 6 of part-I and S.No 221 of part-III of appendix-B of import policy order, 2016 as amended vide SRO-1067 (I0/2017, dated 20/10/2017, further read with Section 3(i) and 3(iii) of the Imports & Exports Control Act, 1950.
