KARACHI: The field formation collectorates of customs have urged the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs to study the audit observations/audit paras thoroughly before forwarding those to the field formation Collectorates.
Sources informed Customs Today said that the officials of internal audit were sending audit observations to the field formation collectorates, including Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-East, Appraisement-West and Port Muhammad Bin Qasim without scrutinising the import values properly.
“On one hand, the collectorates have to rush to work in its daily affairs despite shortage of manpower, while on the other hand, the inappropriate audit observations sent by the Directorate General of Internal Audit are making the things more difficult”, sources added.
Replying to a query, the sources informed this scribe that over more than 50 percent audit observations were not appropriate and lack of proper working and scrutiny.
They further asked the officials of DG Internal Audit to scrutinize the import data first and then recommend revenue recovery to the respective field formation collectorates.
While the officials of the internal audit were of the view that authorities concerned of collectorate are not responding the audit observations in proper manner sent by the internal audit.
They also revealed that field formation collectorates have instructed the PRAL—IT assistance and subsidiary of FBR not to provide import data to the authorities concerned of DG Internal Audit-Customs.
