LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organizations (ASO) has recovered smuggled betel nuts worth Rs30 million from a godown located near Gujjar Gali adjacent to Hall Road.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi received credible information that huge quantity of non-duty paid betel nuts are dumped in a godown located near Hall Road.
Sources told that after receiving information he immediately constituted an anti-smuggling squad under the supervision of Additional Collector Saeed Wattoo which also includes Assistant Collector Salman Javaid.
The anti-smuggling squad raided on a godown located in Gujjar Gali and recovered huge quantity of non-duty paid betel nuts.
The market value of recovered betel nuts is Rs30 million in the market.
It is necessary to mention here that after assuming the charge of Collector Customs Preventive Collector Basit Maqsood Abbasi directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. He directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt according to law.
