LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded a Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs10 million.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Preventive Ahmed Rauf received credible information that some non-duty paid vehicles are plying on roads. He immediately directed Deputy Collector Naveedur Rehman to take necessary measures to impound these vehicles. Anti-smuggling squad comprising Superintendent Nasir Mehmood Tarar, Inspector Intikhab Alam and other enhanced patrolling on the main roads of the city.
During checking the ASO team intercepted a V8 Toyota Land Crusier in Defense Housing Authority (DHA). The team asked the owner who was identified as Jawwad Akram to produce legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle, but he remained failed to show any documents.
The ASO team impounded the vehicle and after completing necessary formalities forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication for further legal proceedings.
It is also necessary to mention here that Collector Preventive Ahmed Rauf directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against owners of non-duty paid vehicles.
