KARACHI: Customs Appraisement West has collected at least Rs 23.056 billion taxes and duties under various heads in the month of January 2016.
According to statistics available with Customs Today, the Customs Appraisement West collected Rs 8,952.28 million under the head of customs duty, Rs 9,902.35 million under the head of sales tax, Rs 4,002.20 million as income tax and Rs 199 million under head of federal excise duty during January 2016.
Significantly, the Customs Appraisement West collected Rs 364.79 million on the last working day of January 2016 i.e. January 30 that included Rs 354.95 million under the head of customs duty; Rs 338.60 million under head of sales tax; Rs 364 million as income tax and Rs 199.61 million as federal excise duty.
At all, the Customs Appraisement West so far collected Rs 152,426 million taxes and duties since August 1 to January 30, 2016 that included Rs 56,209.19 million under head of customs duty; Rs 68,824.05 million as sales tax; Rs 26,191.33 million as income tax and Rs 1,202.33 million under head of federal excise duty.
