LAHORE: Customs agents and traders praised the facilities provided by the Pakistan Customs authorities at Land Freight Unit (LFU) Wagha.
Talking to Customs Today, customs agents said that friendly relations among traders, agents and official authorities led to growth in trade activities that generated revenue for the government along with job opportunities for the youth.
They said that all players of trade business performed their duties with ease here at the LFU Wagha due to the supportive behaviour of the Pakistan Customs officials.
They said that agents could discuss their matters anytime with the authorities like the deputy commissioner or the additional commissioner of customs at Wagha.
On the other hand, Customs Deputy Commissioner Tauqeer Dar said that customs’ purpose is to provide facilities not to rule over the business community.
He said that our job is very sensitive in cross-border trading, because negligence could spoil the image of the department.
“We open heartedly welcome all complaints and suggestions from the customs agents and traders,” he said.
“We tried our best to resolve their matters regarding speedy clearance or technical assistance on speedily.”
Meanwhile, customs agents suggested that the capacity of yards should be increased. They were also of the view that the covered area should also be increase in order to protect sensitive consignments at the LFU Wagha.
