HAVANA: Cuba and the United States are able to announce in the coming weeks agreements on civil aviation, direct postal services, environmental protection and fight against drugs, announced today the senior official of the Cuban Foreign Ministry Josefina Vidal. After finishing the second meeting of the Bilateral Commission created to move towards normalization of relations, Vidal said that both countries have worked hard over the past two months to materialize the agreements in sectors of mutual interest.
The vice-director of the United States division at Cuba´s Foreign Ministry, Gustavo Machin announced that Havana and Washington gave concrete steps towards a short-term accord to establish regular flights between the two countries.
The commission also considered new exchanges on maritime security, law enforcement, climate change and the expansion of collaboration related to healthcare and the assistance to third nations in this field.
