KARACHI: With a detailed presentation beginning from the past history and up to the future of Gawadar port, the China Overseas Ports Holding Company Pvt Ltd (COPHCL) has briefed the business leaders of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries on multi-billion Pakistan China Economic Corridor.
A number of business leaders headed by FPCCI President Mian Muhammad Idress, lauded the presentation presented by Chief Executive Officer China Overseas Ports Holding Company Pvt Ltd Zeng Qingson and the company’s Head of Marketing Aamir Khan.
Zeng Qingson said China is one of the Pakistan’s largest trading partners and the two-way trade exceeded $ 16 billion last year 2014-15.
“I am confident that the presentation and deliberation will go a long way in removing apprehensions, confusions and doubts on Pak-China Economic Corridor and hope that Pakistan will acquire a new asset in terms of infrastructure”, the CEO added.
There is a dire need that Pakistan first mobilizes its own industry and trade sectors to make the best use of Pak-China Economic Corridor, stated Aamir Khan, Head of Marketing, China Overseas Ports Holding Company Pvt Ltd.
“Else, it will be a road and pipeline largely meant for Chinese business – on Pakistan’s taxpayers’ cost – and now protected by the Pakistan Army on our cost”, Aamir Khan added.
