KARACHI: The Commissioner, Inland Revenue (IR) of Zone-II, Regional Tax Officer (RTO-III), Shahid Mehmood Sheikh has informed the Pakistan Custom authorities that the RTO-III has blacklisted M/s Spring Vittles Trading under Sales Tax Act, 1990.
In this regard, the Commissioner IR, Sheikh has advised the Customs Collectorate of Appraisement West, Appraisement-East and Port Muhammad Bin Qasim that the M/s Spring Vittles Trading has been blacklisted by RTO-III and necessary action is required by the Custom authorities.
According to sources, the Additional Commissioner (Hqrs) IR, Zone-II, RTO-III, Karachi has communicated that M/s Spring Vittles Trading Est Plot no 603, Street no 2 D.O.H.S.I Malir Karachi, is a consecutive non-filer of monthly sales tax returns and have not filed the monthly sales tax returns w.e.f January 2014 to January 2016 as required to be filed under Section -26 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990.
According to sources, the legal proceedings of suspension were initiated against M/s Spring Vittles Trading and their registration was suspended by the Commissioner-IR Zone-II, RTO-III.
A show cause notice was issued to the M/s Spring Vittles Trading and hearing was fixed on 29th of February 2016 with the direction to appear before the Commissioner RTO-III personally or through an authorized representative to defend the charges leveled against them.
But, no one appeared on the date and time fixed for hearing and the accused company neither attended the hearing not submitted any written reply/proof of filing monthly sales tax returns, sources added.
Sources informed that since no response or any proof of submission of return was received to the RTO-III, therefore the authority imposed a penalty of Rs 100,000 imposed upon the SOPEL (pvt) Ltd. in terms of Section 33 of Sales Tax Act 1990 read with Section 11 and in exercise of powers conferred under section 21 (20 of Sales Tax Act 19190, and the Sales Tax registration of M/s Spring Vittles Trading was blacklisted from the date of registration.
