MCC Faisalabad collector says trend of successful collection of revenue against set target has happened first time in collectorate’s history
Officials say Collector Tausif is always busy in motivating and preparing anti-smuggling officers to obtain maximum results
FAISALABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Faisalabad showed a marked increase in collection of revenue during October 2014 as compared to the corresponding period of last year, Faisalabad MCC Collector Tausif Ahmad Qureshi said.
He added, “I will collect the revenue as much as I can. My preference is to minimise the smuggling activities in the region and collect the revenue. To achieve the revenue target, I always geared up my officers on a daily basis by urging them to achieve maximum results.”
Talking exclusively to Customs Today, Collector Tausif Ahmad Qureshi said the FBR had given Rs 152.84 million target to his collectorate in October.
“We have achieved the target by collecting Rs 157.93 million with an increase of Rs 5.09 million. We are above 3.33 percent against the current target. We have achieved the target with an increase of 30.35 percent against the same corresponding period of last year which was Rs 121.15 million.”
During October 2014, 33 seizure cases of smuggled goods have been registered as compared to 20 made during the corresponding period of previous year. The quality and size of improved performance during October 2014 could be measured from seizure of expensive vehicles of new models and valuable goods.
Highlighting the performance, Collector Qureshi said, “My four-month tenure is recorded as the best performance of generating revenue in the history of MCC Faisalabad. I had paid special attention to boost the anti-smuggling performance in the region. Resultantly, there has been a marked improvement in the performance every month.”
In the month of August, he added, the Model Customs Collectorate Faisalabad had achieved the target by collecting Rs 232.28 million against the Rs 92.35 million target set by the FBR with an increase of 151.52 percent. In the corresponding period of last year, the collection was only Rs 73.20 million with a huge difference of 217 percent comparing to this year.
“In the month of September, the FBR set Rs 231.08 million target which we achieved by collecting Rs 234.33 million with an increase of 1.41 percent. In the corresponding period of last year, the collection was Rs 183.16 million with a difference of 27.94 percent compared to this year.”
He added, “In October, we achieved the target set by the FBR with a significant ratio.”
He added, “No doubt we are working hard and successfully collecting the revenue more than the target set by the government.”
Tausif added that the trend of collecting revenue against the set target became successful and it happened first time in the history of MCC Faisalabad.
Other officials of the MCC Faisalabad told Customs Today that Customs Collector Tausif Ahmad Qureshi was always busy in motivating and preparing anti-smuggling officers to obtain maximum results.
“This is why we are successful in generating revenue above the set target every month,” they concluded.
