MULTAN: Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich held a meeting with officers of MCC Multan to discuss the overall performance of the Collectorate during the economic year 2014-15. The meeting was held at the Customs office
During the meeting, all officials of the MCC Multan including Additional Collector Ghulam Mustafa, Deputy Collector Dr. Muhammad Ali Malik, Deputy Collector Headquarter Farhat Ali, Deputy Collector Muteen Alam and Assistant Collector Faizan Badar participated in the meeting.
The agenda of the meeting was to review the performance of Customs Department throughout the fiscal year 2014-15. Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich has also evaluated the performance of the various segments of the collectorate.
Sources said that the Collector of Customs reviewed the revenue collection performance of the MCC Multan throughout the Fiscal Year 2014-15. Collector instructed the Deputy Collector Dr. Muhammad Ali Malik to make action plan for the enhancement of business utilization at the Multan Dry Port to raise the revenues by giving better facilities to importers and exporters of the region.
Deputy Collector Multan Dry Port Dr. Muhammad Ali Malik has also updated the officials of the Model of Customs Collectorate Multan about the import scenario of the Multan Dry Port .Deputy Collector Dr. Muhammad Ali Malik highlighted the importance of Sher Shah Railway Junction at the Multan Dry Port to boost the import. He gave few suggestions to improve the conveyed services to facilitate the importer and exporters of the South Punjab region about the Multan Dry Port.

Collector Dr. Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich have talked over the features of a new dry port at the Sadiqabad Region which will cover the whole South Punjab including Rahim Yar Khan , Sadiqabad and Bahawalpur Region. Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich described that Sadiqabad Dry port is the need of the hour for advancing economic activities in the region of Punjab.
Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich told that the construction of new dry port will open new window of opportunity for the business community of this region as manufacturer of South Punjab are utilizing other ports of the nation to promote their business.
Through construction of Sadiqabad Dry Port, South Punjab will get economic prosperity and the local business community will consume the facilities of the Dry port at their door step Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich expressed.
The freight charges of the import consignments were also discussed to facilitate the importer at the Multan Dry Port.
Sources said that the Collector of Customs reviewed the six months revenue collection performance of the collectorates including MCC, Lahore Appraisement, MCC Preventive, MCC Faisalabad and MCC Multan.
Collector MCC Multan directed Deputy Collector Dr. Muhammad Ali Malik that he ensured the well-timed clearance of consignments at the Multan Dry Port and needless delay should not be tolerated at any cost for the advancement of services at the Multan Dry Port. All issues of the importer and exporters regarding customs examination must be resolved in order to provide the best available facilities he expressed.
Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich termed that the terminal operators of the Multan Dry Port should ensure safety of the export bound cargo and ensure repackaging of the examined goods and provide all required facilities, including skilled and experienced labourers, for handling textile export goods and repackaging after their customs examination.
Meanwhile, Collector Sarfraz Ahmad Warraich has also pointed out the few lapses of revenue in the MCC Multan through the economic year 2014-15.
