MULTAN: Collector Appraisement Saima Aftab visited Sadiqabad Export Terminal to review facilitation process to businessmen.
Sources told that Collector Appraisement Faisalabad Saima Aftab has visited Sadiqabad Export Terminal after assuming her responsibilities.
Assistant Collector Sadiqabad Export Terminal Ms. Sobia briefed the Collector about importance of Saqdiqabad export terminal. Collector was informed that Sadiqabad export terminal is facilitating traders and business community of various parts of upper Punjab and the entire south Punjab including Kamalia, Bhai Pheru, Changa Manga, Pattoki, Renala Khurd, Okara, Sahiwal, Mianchannu, Khanewal, Tibba Sultanpur, Burewala, Basti Malook, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Multan.
She said being nearer to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route and the motorway, the Sadiqabad export terminal would turn out to be a hub of trade activities. Containers will be sent directly to Karachi Port through the WeBoc (Web-based One Customs) system.
Sadiqabad Export Terminal activities has been decreased due to global pandemic of Covid-19 and 83 containers of 20 inches,1033 containers of 40 inches and 2150 Tues were cleared from Sadiqabad export terminal during fiscal 2019-20.While almost 50 % export clearance have been plunged due to on-going economic crisis caused by COVID-19.
Collector Customs Appraisement has directed Sadiqabad export terminal to make continuous efforts for the attracting exporters of the region through swift clearance facility and asked business community of South Punjab to adopt clearance facility of Sadiqabad export terminal.
Sadiqabad export terminal is also providing same clearance facilities to exporters. Exporters various concerns over examination and destruction of packing for examination was also informed during briefing and Collector decided to take up the issue with ant-narcotics force for examination of shipment.
