KARACHI: The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) 100-index 216.78 points to reach 30593.31 points and volume of 133,854,400 shares on the start of trading after Ashura holidays, Wednesday.
Earlier, the market began the week on a positive note and the benchmark 100 index kept on upward march, setting the trend for the trading. The Karachi Stock Exchange KSE-100 went up 107 points or 0.35 percent to 30484 points in early trading.
Buoyancy helped the Karachi Stock Exchange shored up gains to take the tally to 168 points or 0.55 percent to reach 30544 points in the midday trading.
The highest increase witnessed in price of the Pace (Pak) Limited, P.T.C.L.A, D.G.K.Cement XD and Fatima Fertilizer Company, while the Pak Services, Bata (Pak) Limited, Bhanero Tex.XD and Wyeth Pak Limited remained the biggest losers of the day.
High and Low were 30704.95 and 30376.53 respectively. Total volume traded in the market was 133,854,400 shares.
As a whole 41.94 per cent of companies witnessed increase in their shares while 17.76 per cent lost their share value and 2.96 per cent companies remained stable.
Financial experts were of the view that the sentiments remained positive, boosting confidence of the investors and keeping the score board ticking. The Karachi Stocks Exchange benchmark KSE-100 index has been on the rise, despite four days closure on weekend and Ashura holidays.
