ISLAMABAD: Chinese company Xinjiang Production and Construction intends to set up a science and technology, and logistic park in Pakistan to promote trade between both countries.
A 7-member Chinese delegation, led by Huang Zhigang, Commissar of the Thirteenth Division in Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, visited Board of Investment on Monday.
The delegation also met Secretary BOI, Iftikhar Babar and discussed different investment opportunities available in the country in different sectors of the economy, said a statement.
Iftikhar Babar also highlighted that the government has taken a number of initiatives to attract foreign investment and in this regard, the significant improvements can be witnessed on both fronts.
He also invited the Chinese delegation for the establishment of Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Gwadar or anywhere in Pakistan by availing package of incentives and concessions of SEZs, scheme.
Xinjiang 13th Division of Construction Corp is the sole representative of Science and Technology in Hami, Xinjiang, China and the organization has a functional logistics center setup at Hami, Xinjiang China and a similar facility is planned to be established in Islamabad, Pakistan with a purpose to route the trade to Gawadar via Kashgar.
The proposed Science & Technology and Logistics Park will serve as a repository for all trade goods, coming to Pakistan via the Pak China Economic Corridor.
The Chinese delegation appreciated the presentation by the Secretary, BOI.
