BRASÍLIA: China bought 191.6 million tons of iron ore from Brazil in 2015, a 12.1 percent increase over 2014, according to data from China’s General Administration of Customs.
The Brazilian iron ore accounted for 20.1 percent of total Chinese imports of this commodity in 2015 – an increase from the 18.3 percent weight recorded in 2014, according to Reuters.
In 2015, China imported 952.9 million tons of iron ore, an increase of 2.16 percent over the previous year. Australia was the largest source of Chinese iron ore imports in 2015, representing nearly 60 percent of total Chinese imports of this commodity. China also imported iron ore from Ukraine and South Africa.
