Chief Collector Nazim Saleem collects Rs 40.15b revenue on motor spirit

KARACHI: Chief Collector Enforcement-South Muhammad Nazim Saleem has contributed at least Rs 40.15 billion on motor spirit to the national exchequer during the fiscal year 2014-15, it is learnt.

The revenue collection has been made on motor spirit as customs duty and sales tax under the leadership of Chief Collector Enforcement-South Muhammad Nazim Saleem and his team from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015, sources told Customs Today.

The levies to the tune of Rs 40.152 billion has been collected under SRO 1152(I)/2014 dated 30.12.2014 sales tax at 22 percent w.e.f. 01.01.2015; SRO 83(I)/2015 dated 30.01.2015 sales tax at 27 percent w.e.f. 01.02.2015; SRO 175(I)/2015 dated 27.02.2015 sales tax at 18 percent w.e.f. 01.03.2015; SRO 383(I)/2015 dated 30.04.2015 sales tax at 20 percent w.e.f. 01.05.2015 and SRO 392(I)/2015 dated 30.04.2015 RD at 2 percent applicable w.e.f. 30.04.2015.

According to official statistics, the sales tax of Rs 2,986 million on motor spirit was collected in the month of July 2014 with PCT Codes 2710.1210; Rs 4,237 million in August 2014; Rs 3,467 million in September 2014; Rs 3,228 million in October 2014; Rs 3,141 million in November 2014; Rs 2,468 million in December 2014; Rs 2,307 million in January 2015; Rs 3,473 million in February 2015; Rs 2,667 million in March 2015; Rs 3,205 million in April 2015; Rs 4,764 million in May 2015 and Rs 4,209 million in June 2015.

Moreover, the sources said that at least Rs 445 million was collected as regulatory duty at 2 percent in the month of May 2015 and Rs 380 million in June 2015.
