LAHORE: Private sector is the engine of growth and its role in policy making will be ensured. The chambers of commerce are drivers of economy therefore a due consideration should be accorded to them while evolving business related policies.
This was upshot of speeches of the newly elected office-bearers of the LCCI, who assumed their offices after Annual General Meeting of the Lahore Chamber on Wednesday.
They all were one voice that the business community deserves extra facilitation in Post-Covid era.
They said the demands of businesses are rapidly changing and ask for concrete steps to overcome the emerging issues along with increase in exports. Research is a vast area and its outcomes should be endorsed and implemented and for this purpose LCCI, from now on, will work more closely with policy implementation departments for speedy results.
LCCI newly elected President Mian Tariq Misbah-ur-Rehman said the biggest issue business community is facing related to tax and Lahore Chamber will go to any extent to help its members. We will work with the government to resolve the tax issues and help to broaden the tax net. We will cut short the timing of LCCI membership added LCCI newly elected President Mian Tariq Misbah-ur-Rehman.
He said the Covid-19 has left its unlighted foot-prints and during the election campaign we have seen the situation of markets more closely. Many are unable to restart their businesses and are in dire need of help from government and from business community especially from Lahore Chamber and we are willing and are with them until they get back on track.
Senior Vice President LCCI Nasir Hameed Khan said some areas are required to be concentrated and Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry will play a pre-emptive role as a think-tank and will provide suggestions needed for betterment to the government.
Vice President Tahir Manzoor Chaudhry gave vote of thanks and said the business community is the fifth pillar of the state and should work together as one community to achieve and serve the fellow businessmen.
The LCCI new office-bearers congratulated the outgoing office-bearers especially for their initiative of ‘One Window Smart Services’ and said that their work will be taken further and we will try to maintain the standards of serving the business community which Lahore Chamber has set over the years.
The LCCI outgoing President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, Senior Vice President Ali Hussam Asghar and Vice President Mian Zahid Jawaid Ahmed spoke highly about one-year performance and assured their full cooperation to the new office-bearers and Executive Committee Members. At the end, the Election Commissioners announced the official results.
Newly elected executive Committee Members include Syed Mardan Ali Zaidi, Muhammad Nadeem Qureshi, Abdul Wadood Alvi, Malik Riaz Iqbal, Mubashar Naseer Butt, Saleem Asghar Bhatti, Mian Maqbool Siddiqi, Shahzad Butt, Shahid Nazir Ch, Muhammad Kashif Bashir, Muhammad Ali Afzal and Muhammad Naeem Hanif.
While Shireen Arshad Khan has been elected Executive Committee Member on one seat reserved for women.
