LAHORE: Pakistan Carpet Manufacturer and Export Association President Khawaja Muhammad Shakir has said that the carpet exports have shrunk to 57 percent during the last 10 years as 20,000 people have left this industry.
Shakir told Customs Today that during the last 10 year the carpet industry of India has grown 34 percent and India’s carpet export reached $2 billion and Pakistan carpet at the lowest level of $123 million.
He urged Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) that to raise subsidy on international exhibition up to 70 percent besides announcing exemption for this industry.
