MULTAN: Businessmen and industrialists wanted to pay legitimate taxes to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) but collection of tax procedure should be simplified so that everyone can easily submit their tax returns without any hurdle.
It was stated by President Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Fazal Elahi during meeting with Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office Inland Revenue Multan Nazir Ahmad Shoro in his office. Business Community supports documentation of economy but the complicated tax procedure should be made simple and introduced new tax return forms in simple Urdu for the facilitation of small and middle class businessmen because they cannot afford tax consultant fees for filing of returns every time.
He said that the ban on the purchase of more than 50,000 commodities during shopping should be reviewed and government introduced ID cards for the purchase of Rs.5 million commodities instead of 50,000. He said that government should also facilitate business community of Multan in taxes like Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore because Multan is ahead of Faisalabad in terms of tax payment. The Federal Board of Revenue has facilitated business community in registration of National tax number (NTN) and Sales tax registration number (STRN) but the process of terminating the registration is extremely difficult and long and it should be de-registered shortly after the required procedure.
He said that Federal Board of Revenue should also play its positive role in government policy for ease of doing business. He demanded that tax advisory committees should be restored and tax authorities should resolve old refund cases immediately. He requested to Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office Multan Nazir Ahmad Shoro that Federal Board of Revenue should also consider business community of Multan along with large cities at the meetings held at FBR at the high level in future.
