BERLIN: BMW has launched new model of twin-cylinder roadster F 800 R with more power.
The 798cc engine has been “retuned” to produce 90 horsepower at 8000 rpm, up from 87 horsepower; peak torque remains at 63 foot-pounds and internal ratios for first and second gears have been shortened to improve acceleration. The updated chassis now has an inverted fork with radial-mount front brakes, and revised ergos include a 10mm-lower seat, new handlebar and footpegs.
The styling of the F 800 R was not left alone, and includes a new fairing, radiator shield, front fender and wheels; the formerly asymmetrical headlight is now a more conventional symmetrical unit. ABS is standard equipment, while optional extras include Automatic Stability Control and Electronic Suspension Adjustment. The 2015 F 800 R will be offered in four colour combinations.
