DELHI: Italian super bike brand Benelli, targets to sell around 3,000 units in 2015-16. “We are hoping to sell 3,000 super bikes. All these are completely knocked down units,” DSK Moto wheels Chairman Shirish Kulkarni told reporters.
Benelli Board-Director George Wang said the company sells 20,000 units in China and holds a major share of the superbike segment there. “We sell in China about 20,000 units. We have a major share there. We also sell in Thailand, Cambodia and Malaysia. Now we are entering India with DSK”, he said.
The super bike segment comprises of various brands including Harley Davidson, Triumph, Honda, Suzuki, Hyosung and Kawasaki. Besides Benelli, DSK Motowheels sells Hyosung range of motorcycles as assembled units. “Last financial year we sold about 1,200 units. By March 2015 we are expecting to finish 1,900 units”, he said.
The company unveiled five motor cycles with the base variant the Tornado Naked Tre or “TNT 300” Super bike priced at Rs 2.88 lakh while top end TNT R 1,131 cc is priced at Rs 12.02 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai).
“Currently, the vehicles are assembled at our Wai facility near Pune. The investment made at the factory is about Rs 200 crore. We source the components from various places, assemble at the facility”, he said.
