BRUSSELS: A gang of smugglers was found with £95,000 of illicit tobacco in a swoop by customs officers.
Grimsby man Eric Cuerton, 57, of Freeman Street was locked up for three years at Grimsby Crown Court after admitting his role in the operation which evaded tax totalling around £14,000.
Ronald Johnson, 53, of High Street, Davenport, John Stewart, 51, of Wallasey and Guiseppe Avani, 35, of London all admitted tax evasion offences and were each locked up for a year.
The surveillance operation trailed the tobacco from Belgium and concluded at Peacefield Business Park at Holton-le-Clay
