BEIRUT: Beirut Airport customs thwarted an attempt by a Dutch national to smuggle 25 kilograms of cocaine into Lebanon..
Customs at Beirut Rafik Hariri’s International Airport detained a 29-year-old man, who was identified by his initials H.S.
The cocaine was found in the passenger’s luggage. He initially traveled from Brazil to Morocco en route to Beirut.
After preliminary questioning under the supervision of Mount Lebanon general prosecution, the suspect was referred to the Central Drug Bureau in Beirut.
Airport security agencies have busted several creative drugs smuggling operations into Lebanon in recent months. The latest was earlier this month when a Peruvian national swallowed a quantity of condoms filled with liquid cocaine.
