BANNU: Anti-Smuggling Organization have seized huge quantity of foreign origin ground nuts, apricot and Asfaen herbs along with Hino offending vehicle.
A secret information was received by Additional Collector Muhammad Khayal that huge quantity of foreign origin smuggled dry fruit and herbs will be attempt to smuggle via Bannu, following said information Deputy Collector Mehmood Khattak with assistance of local police intercepted Hino truck model 1984 having registration number LES-07-162, the said vehicle was apparently loaded with foreign origin smuggled goods which was coming from Quetta side.
DC Khattak informed Customs Today that seized smuggled goods were comprises as foreign origin ground nuts 275 bags having weight 3600 kilograms in worth of Rs2.16 million, foreign origin dried apricots with seeds 02 bags equivalent to 114 kgs in worth of Rs0.114 million, dried apricots without seeds 08 bags in value of Rs0.360 million, dried Asfaeen herb (wormwood) 40 bags in worth of Rs. 1.050 million, foreign origin dried Garlic 10 bags equivalent to 500 kg in worth of Rs0.5 million, he added that the customs squad Bannu also seized offending vehicle (vehicle use for carrying smuggled goods) Hino truck model 1984 having registration number LES-07-162 value Rs.3 million, the total value of seized goods including vehicle estimated in value of Rs7.84 million (Rs.3 million value of vehicle and 4.84 million goods).
Deputy Collector Mehmood Khattak told that offending vehicle seized under Section 157 of CA (Customs Act) 1969, he added that the case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
