DHAKA: Top Bangladeshi mobile operator Grameenphone of Telenor has achieved 50 million subscribers milestone in the country.
CEO Vivek Sood has termed it a great achievement in a short span of time. The Grameenphone network which was launched in 2007 currently has more than 8,600 base stations in operation, bringing 99 percent of the population under its coverage. Grameenphone was the first operator to introduce prepaid services and international roaming service in 1999, a WAP service in 2000, and an EDGE service in 2005.
