DHAKA: Customs officials seized a huge amount of sarees and medicine from two flights of Regent Airways at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today.
Acting on a tip-off, a preventive team of the Dhaka customs house raided a flight from India that landed at the airport around 3:30pm and seized a huge amount of Indian sarees brought illegally, Customs’ assistant commissioner Shahiduzzaman Sarkar told media.
Market value of the seized sarees is estimated at Tk 50 lakh, the official told The Daily Star.
The custom officials also seized a medicine worth around Tk 1.86 crore from a flight of the same airways that arrived in the airport from Bangkok around 6:00pm, he added.
