SIALKOT: Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) has suspended all the transport services across the country following the prevailing political unrest in the country.
Sialkot Dry Port Trust (SDPT) Chairman Muhammad Ishaq Butt told Customs Today that the SDPT has suspended its transport services in a bid to avoid the damages and losses to the containers carrying the export and import consignments, as the several transport vehicles and containers of Sialkot Dry Port were snatched by local administration in various parts of Punjab and were placed on different roads to block the ways of the protesters moving towards Lahore and Islamabad.
He said that SDPT transport services will remain suspended till defusing of political unrest and the situation returns towards normal condition. Ishaq Butt added that the political unrest was resulting into great financial loss of millions of rupees daily to Sialkot Dry Port.
He urged the both sides (government and protesting parties) to find the peaceful and amicable solution to the persisting political crisis through talks not through the protest to save the country from great financial losses, besides, paving the way for political and economical stability in the country, which was vital to boost the national economy as well.
