PEARL: Authorities have arrested a man after seizing methamphetamine worth more than $1 million during a traffic stop.
Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey tells media outlets that authorities arrested 28-year-old Domingo Avila Jr. Friday on charges of aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance.
Bailey says a Pearl police officer stopped Avila’s truck on Interstate 20. After Avila consented to a vehicle search, Bailey says the official found methamphetamine and a liquid form of the drug inside the truck.
Bailey says this was the largest meth bust in a while. He says these drugs are not usually destined for Rankin County.
Authorities say Avila told officials he was traveling from Texas and heading to Atlanta.
Avila was booked at Rankin County Jail. It isn’t clear if he has an attorney.
