PESHAWAR: The Anti-Smuggling Unit of the Customs House Peshawar has seized Non-Duty-Paid goods worth Rs24.78million during 15 days of January Financial Year 2017-18.
It has been a second seizure of the current month by the Anti-Smuggling Unit of the Customs House Peshawar which has become possible due to a direction given by Collector Customs, Anti-Smuggling Unit, to eliminate the risk of smuggling of NDP items within the country.
The Mobile Squad-2 of the Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar has confiscated electronic devices, NDP cloths, and cigarettes also including a number of other NDP items.
The total worth of the impounded goods is Rs24.78million which would be auctioned off to add valuable revenue to the collection of customs exchequer.
Assistant Collector Customs at MCC Peshawar Zakir Muhammad has praised the efforts of the Anti-Smuggling Unit on Tuesday while saying that Collector Customs at Customs House Peshawar Gull Rahman earlier issued an order to initiate the anti-smuggling drive in the province.
Assistant Collector further said the anti –smuggling drive adds millions of revenue to the collection for which the mobile squads deserve appreciation.
