MULTAN: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) impounded smuggled vehicles and miscellaneous items valued Rs.848.043 million during the whole fiscal Year 2018-19.
According to details, Anti-Smuggling Organization intercepted 227 non-customs paid expansive vehicles of different brands. Anti-Smuggling Organization has initiated extensive anti-smuggling campaign against smuggled vehicles. Multan Customs has impounded 135 foreign origin vehicles due to aggressive strategy against smuggled vehicles.
These impounded vehicles include luxurious vehicles of various brands and models including Toyota Land Cruiser, Mercedes Benz, Toyota Crown, Toyota Raum, Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Toyota Passo , Toyota Hilux Surf , Toyota Fielder, Premio, Suzuki Alto and others.
The Anti-Smuggling Organization also detected 145 seizures of worth Rs.488.34 million articles. Massive anti-smuggling campaign was launched by Multan Customs Collectorate to prevent smuggling in their territory and it has also generated handsome revenue for the Collectorate throughout economic year (July to June) 2018-19. These concerted anti-Smuggling efforts discourage illicit trade and promoted legitimate trade in the Collectorate.
The Collectorate has seized 135 vehicles valued Rs.241 million in their crackdown during the corresponding economic year 2017-18 and also detected 99 seizure cases of goods Rs777.85 million during the corresponding period of 2017-18.
Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization has adopted effective measures to curb smuggling in the region which is also reflected in the revenue collection throughout fiscal year 2018-19.
