KARACHI: All Pakistan Shipping Association (APSA) issued advisory for shipping lines to provide services with skeletal staff.
The advisory stated that this is in reference to the directive by the Government of Sindh issued on 22nd March 2020 Ref No SO (Jud-I)/8-1(04)/2020-Corona and clarification issued on 23rd March 2020 Ref No F.P/Corona 2019/Misc/2020 for the lockdown of all offices, and employees/staff to work from home.
In this directive, Port Operations and supply chain activities have been deemed to be essential services and have been given an exemption. In lieu of the above we advise the Shipping Lines to adhere to the above directions by the Government and only deploy employees who are essentially required to perform critical/ crucial tasks necessitating their visits to Port and their offices.
In regards to the above and in order to support port operations as well as supply chain activities, employees of shipping lines, shipping agents, terminals and off-dock terminals, attending office and moving in the city are to ensure that they adhere to all necessary safety & precautionary measures promulgated by Health Department, Sindh including but not limited to wearing face mask during travelling to and from office, using sanitizers frequently and avoiding pillion riding on motorbikes. All employees must carry their Original CNICs and company’s identity cards.
