KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) of Appraisement-East collected Rs 20.44 billion in September under the heads of customs duty, sales tax, withholding tax and federal excise duty.
The MCC of Appraisement-East exceeded overall targets for customs, sales tax and withholding tax for September; however, the target for federal excise duty remained unachieved.
The Appraisement collected Rs 5.38 billion customs duty in September against target of Rs 4.98 billion, Rs 11.232 billion sales tax against Rs 10.1 billion target and Rs 3.67 billion withholding tax against Rs 3.35 billion. However, the MCC could not achieve the Rs 189.26 million target of federal excise duty for September.
Moreover, the Collectorate had collected Rs 19.24 billion in August, including Rs 5.25 billion customs duty, Rs 10.51 billion sales tax, Rs 3.38 billion withholding tax and Rs 101.81 million federal excise duty.
During July, the first month of the current fiscal year, the collectorate had collected Rs 13.46 billion.
The collectorate has exceeded the overall revenue target during each of the first three months of the current fiscal year as Rs 13.46 billion achieved against Rs 14.89 billion target in July, Rs 19.24 billion was collected against Rs 15.27 billion target in August and Rs 20.44 billion collected against Rs 18.62 billion during current month.
